A while back, Todd and I purchased a couple of really cute ABC/123 prints for the nursery on Etsy from seller
loopzart. At $20 for the set, it was totally a great deal compared to other prints,
and the numbers print started with a 0, which we love as engineers. =)
We finally got around to buying frames for them this weekend, and got a white mat board to cut our own!
 |
| The tools we used, minus pencil, ruler, exacto knife, aluminum straight edge, masking tape, and cardboard to cut on. |
First, we just used a blade to cut out two pieces of the mat board that would fit the 11"x14" frames. Then came a lot of measuring and math to make sure that the mat would come right up to the edge of the print, but not the edge of the paper. Todd's really good with the mat cutter, and we got it right on the first try! =)
 |
| Perfect! |
I used masking tape to adhere the print to the mat, cleaned the glass in the frame, and that was it!
 |
| Tape to keep from warping. |
 |
| One down, one to go! |
We haven't put the prints up yet, but they will go above the crib -- at least that's what we're planning for now. The frames match the crib so well (the color and the style), which was sheer dumb luck. While the white of the mat is super-white and doesn't match the frame, we actually think it's a nice contrast. =)
 |
| Pardon the messy crib. We're still going through stuff to get rid of. |
These look amazing! And they'll be great in her room as she grows into grade school :) I've got to work on repurposing some old frames to display the kid's art now that she's all into coloring...
ReplyDeleteHow fun! Creative HD!
DeleteSooo cute!! Mat cutting looks intimidating! Good thing todd was able to do it!
ReplyDeleteYou and Sak could totally do this -- it's so engineery and straightforward!
